Easy hiking trails, Guldturer=Treasure hikes and Culture paths, see www.funasdalen.com!

There are at least 450 kilometres of hiking trails and at least 30 mountain peaks over 1000 metres above sea level in the area of Funäsdalen to conquer or just view from a distance.

The area has a comprehensive cultural and historical background, all is documented with trails and signs.

There is a 3-kilometre long hiking trail taking you from the cottages of Sörmon to Funäsdalen.

The following is a description of longer hiking trails in the area. You will find the start and finish on the map "Z8 Fjällkartan Helags-Funäsdalen-Rogen". Only marked summer trails are described. The descriptions are only meant as an over all tool in planning your tours. The times suggested are based on experience in the described direction. Deviation will occur because of weather or hiking in the opposite direction. Normally the speed of travel is 3 kilometres per hours with shorter stops.

Kläppen (Ljungdalen) - Helagsstugorna, 12 kilometres, 4 hours

From the parking lot at Kläppen 5 kilometres north of Ljungdalen, the trail will take you along an old road through birch woods of Kesudalen. When you have passed the last of the private cottages along the lake of Kesusjön, the trail will take you above the tree line towards the mountain of Helags. The trail is somewhat bumpy but easy. The power lines to the Helags Hostel are parallel with the trail. You can see the cabins when you have about 400 - 500 metres left.

Helagsstugorna - Fältjägarstugan, 13 kilometres, 5 hours

The trail will take you over the Östra Helagsskaftet and along a reindeer fence separating the land of the Sámi villages of Handöl and Mittådalen. The trail is somewhat bumpy but easy. Along the trail, which will take you over a mountain plateau, towards Klinken, are several tarns with plenty of fish.

Fältjägarstugan - Klinken, 14 kilometres, 5 hours

The trail from Fältjägarstugan is easy hiking. When the water level is high in the river of Mittån, it could be difficult to cross. It might be easier to go 1 kilometre to the north of the trail and cross at the end of the lake Mittåsjön. After you have reached the Giertebaunestugan the trail will wind through the woods towards Klinken. The Klinkenstugan burnt down in 1984.

Klinken - Långbrottsjöns resting area and shelter - Fjällnäs, 17 kilometres, 6 hours

The trail will gradually ascend above the tree line through the birch woods from Klinken for a few kilometres. The trail continues over dry moors towards Långbrottsjöns resting area. There are several tarns with plenty of fish. You will encounter the first trees again at Kroktjärn before descending through the woods towards Fjällnäs

Klinken - Össjöstugan - Bruksvallarna, 13 kilometres, 5 hours

The trail will take you through rolling low-lying terrain towards Össjöstugan (open during wintertime). The hike will then take you along a lake system over swamps, and firm ground towards Bruksvallarna. There are several private cabins in the area.

Össjöstugan - Långbrottssjöns shelter and rest area, 6 kilometres, 2 hours

After climbing the steep slope right on the outset from Össjöstugan the trail will take you over the bare mountain region above the tree line, across Össjökläppen to the shelter.

Bruksvallarna - Fjällnäs, 16 kilometres, 6 hours

The trail starts at the parking lot of Rockvallen. Easy hiking through the birch woods starting with the trail gradually ascending, and continuing on towards a place serving waffles. You will be at the tree line. The hike towards Fjällnäs through the woods is easy.

Össjöstugan – Svalåtjärn - Tänndalen, 14 kilometres, 5 hours

Easy hiking over mountain terrain towards the shelter of Svalåtjärn. Continue on past the lake of Anderssjön and a few privately own cottages at Andersborg. The trail will take you over swamps and firm ground to Tänndalen.

Fjällnäs - Skedbrostugan, 27 kilometres, 9-10 hours

The toll road to Svansjökläppen is privately owned. After the ascent above the tree line the trail is easy hiking and with great views. The birch woods take over along the slopes after having passed over the mountain. The trail is still easy all the way to Dahlstenshån, where the boulders will take over. Even though there are lots of tarns and swamps the trail is mostly dry.

Tänndalen - Skedbrostugan, 21 kilometres, 8 hours

From the parking lot of Tänndalsvallen the trail will take you ascending the slalomslope to Svanåstugan. The trail is easy on the mountain. Please see the trail description for Fjällnäs - Skedbrostugan.

Skedbrostugan - Rogenstugan, 18 kilometres, 7 hours

The terrain is typical of the area with lots of boulders, which also means the trail is more difficult to pass. The trail will take you from Skedbrostugan around the Bustvålen and to Rödviken. It will be an easier hike after Rödviken. There are plenty of opportunities for fishing along the trail. The hike will take you through mixed forests, mountain birch woods, and old pinewoods over dry land.

Kjäringsjövallen - Rogenstugan, 10 kilometres, 3 hours

The trail will lead you over easy going level ground through wooded areas and dry land. The swamps have footbridges. Several tarns and smaller lakes with plenty of fish. There are lots of boulders in the area. You can also start the tour at Käringsjön. There is a privately owned toll road taking you to Käringsjön.
